how we work?

Here at LightsOn we align our work steps with the RIBA plan of work to enable us to integrate seemlessly into the project and provide the best outcome for the client.

The RIBA plan of work organises the process of briefing, designing, delivering, maintaining, operating and using a building into 8 stages. It is a framework for all disciplines on construction projects and should be used solely as guidance for the preparation of detailed professional services and building contracts.

1. CONCEPT & DESIGN DEVELOPMENT

The key to design is to establish the clients wants and needs in the form of a design brief and an understanding of the project deliverables. Following this study we develop a conceptual lighting design pack to present to the client and wider deisgn team. Lighting concept to include:
  1.  Reference images
  2. Sketch details and ideas
  3. Lighting glow plans showing indicative layout of fittings and effects
  4. Lighting effects added to Interior design CGI’s where applicable
Info will be presented in the form of a concept book with mood boards. Following the concept presentation, revise proposals in line with design team/ client comments. Prepare budget costing for lighting proposals. Confirm finalised concept with client team and obtain client approval.

2. TECHNICAL DESIGN

Following sign off on the concept and agreed design direction and in reciept of the General arranagement plans we prepare a complete technical design
package.
Technical lighting package to include:

  1.  Circuited and dimensioned high and low level lighting plans
  2. Switching / circuit schedule including control details
  3. Luminaire schedule
  4. Formal supply quotation

Coordinate the lighting documents with the architectural, mechanical and electrical documents prepared by the project consultants. Prepare any revisions to lighting package in line with comments from the project/client team. Ensure compliance with local energy efficiency guidelines.
